I have had the pleasure of working along side my parents for over 35 years in the swimming pool business and I take pride in being owner-owned and operated.
I grew up working along side my parents Tom and Mary Lou Wahl. The business began after moving to Davenport Iowa from Minneapolis Minnesota in 1979. Believe it or not, my parents started the business right out of our home. I started out helping dad at a young age and then through high school and then went full time in summers starting in 1986. I’ve been in the swimming pool business my entire life.
After my parents out grew our home, they moved and opened their first retail location on Hickory Grove Road in Davenport. After that they continued to grow and move locations. I’m very grateful and fortunate to have grown up working alongside mom and dad my entire life and they both taught me everything I know and how to be the person and man I am today. In October 2022 dad passed away after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Now that you know some of our history, I’d like to share where I’m at today.
I’ve decided to go out on my own and carry on the family tradition of being one of the only owner-owned businesses that specializes in building custom In-ground swimming pools. I opened AMH Pools in 2018 as a side business and now today I’ve made it my #1 priority business.
My crew ( my family ) that has built In ground swimming pools with dad and I for the past 20 plus years are still with me today along with some new faces that are eager to learn the swimming pool business.
At AMH Pools, we are committed to bringing your backyard living space to a whole new level by providing you with a personalized and customized in-ground swimming pool that fits your needs. I will work closely with you, your home builder, general contractor and all contractors involved in your project to ensure that everything runs as smoothly as possible.
When you choose AMH Pools to build your in-ground swimming pool, I’ll collaborate with you to determine what size pool, an entry system into pool that fits your needs, water depth and all the options available to find what fits your families needs.
After we work together to determine the pool your family has chosen, I will help with the drawings and information for whoever ends up pulling the pool permit and we’ll get your contractors lined up for things AMH Pools is not licensed to do. I have plenty of contractors that I’ve worked with over the years throughout eastern Iowa that can help get things lined up.
